There is something so magical about the mountains in Utah during springtime — especially when Mother Nature decides to surprise everyone with a fresh snowfall at the end of May. This engagement session at Jordan Pines Campground felt like something straight out of a movie, and getting to photograph my brother and his fiancée made it even more special.
Nestled up Big Cottonwood Canyon near Salt Lake City, Jordan Pines Campground gave us the dreamiest mountain backdrop for their engagement photos. Towering pine trees, snowy trails, and quiet mountain air made the entire evening feel peaceful and intimate. Even better? We basically had the whole place to ourselves.
At the end of May, most people expect sunshine and warmer weather in Utah, but a recent storm brought a light dusting of snow. It was FREEZING — the kind of cold that makes your cheeks pink and your hands numb within minutes — but honestly, it made the session even more memorable! The green grass with the light touches of white snow made these straight out of a fairytale!
One of my favorite things about engagement sessions in the mountains of Utah is how adventurous and playful they can feel. Instead of stiff posing, we spent the evening wandering through this stunning location, laughing nonstop, and embracing the unexpected weather. These two were absolute troopers in the cold, and their chemistry made every single image feel effortless.
If you are looking for a stunning location for engagement photos near Salt Lake City, Jordan Pines Campground is seriously underrated. The mountain scenery is gorgeous year-round, but late spring snow in the canyon adds such a unique and cozy vibe that feels straight out of a storybook. Whether you love snowy engagement photos, forest sessions, or mountain landscapes, this location has so much variety.
Utah engagement sessions are always beautiful, but this one felt extra meaningful because it was family. Watching my brother begin this new season of life with the woman he loves was such an honor to capture. I already know their wedding day is going to be emotional, joyful, and full of so much love.
I cannot wait for their exciting day to finally arrive.
