There’s something so special about early summer sessions in Provo Canyon. June is one of my favorite times to photograph families here because the hills turn the most beautiful shade of green, tiny purple wildflowers begin to bloom, and the mountain views are absolutely stunning.


One of the reasons I love offering mini sessions at this location is because it works beautifully even earlier in the evening. The light stays soft and even thanks to the surrounding canyon walls, which means families don’t have to stay out quite as late for gorgeous photos. That’s always a win for parents with little kids!

Another huge bonus is how easy this spot is to access. Parking is super close, and while there is a short uphill walk to get to the best view, it’s quick and manageable for most families. Once you reach the top, you’re greeted with green grass, scattered rocks that add texture and variety, and breathtaking mountain scenery in every direction.


The Palmer family’s mini session here was such a dream. Their little boy had the best time exploring the hill, looking around at everything, and simply being a kid. Some of my favorite family photos happen when children are free to move, discover, and interact naturally with their surroundings. This location is perfect for that kind of candid, playful energy.

I loved capturing the sweet connection between this family while their little one wandered through the grass and wildflowers. These sessions always remind me that family photos don’t have to feel stiff or overly posed. Sometimes the magic comes from slowing down, exploring together, and enjoying the beautiful Utah outdoors.


If you’ve been looking for a scenic location for family photos in Utah County, Provo Canyon is one of my absolute favorite spots for summer mini sessions. Between the mountain backdrop, soft evening light, wildflowers, and easy access, it creates such a timeless setting for family memories.
