If you're looking for a beautiful location for family photos in Bountiful, Utah, Bountiful Pond is one of my favorites.
It has everything I look for in a great family photography location: gorgeous light, beautiful scenery, easy parking, lots of variety, and usually not too many people competing for the best spots.
I recently photographed a family session at Bountiful Pond, and it was such a great example of why I love this location so much.
Why I Love Bountiful Pond for Family Photos
Bountiful Pond gives us so many different backdrops without having to travel all over the place.
We can photograph in the trees, in open fields, by the water, and among the wildflowers — all during the same session. That variety makes it a great choice for family photography in Bountiful, Utah, especially when you want a gallery that doesn't feel like every photo was taken in the exact same spot.
The Gorgeous Light
One of my favorite things about Bountiful Pond is the light.
The tall Russian olive trees filter the sunlight beautifully, creating that soft, glowy light that I love so much in family photos.
The trees also give us some shade while still letting in plenty of gorgeous natural light. It's especially pretty in the evening when the sun starts coming through the trees.
Wildflowers, Trees & Water
There are so many beautiful elements at Bountiful Pond.
In June and July, you can often find little wildflowers throughout the area. They're such a pretty addition to family photos without overwhelming the images.
Then there are the tall trees, wide open spaces, and of course, the pond itself. The water gives us another beautiful backdrop and helps add variety to your gallery.
A Great Location for Mini Sessions
Bountiful Pond is also one of my favorite spots for mini sessions in Bountiful, Utah.
Because there are so many different backgrounds close together, we can get a lot of variety in a short amount of time.
A single mini session can include photos in the trees, open areas, wildflowers, and near the water. You get a gallery that feels much bigger and more varied than the short session time might suggest.
Easy Parking
This might not sound like the most exciting feature of a photography location, but I promise it matters.
Bountiful Pond has a good amount of parking that's conveniently located near the areas where we photograph. That makes things much easier when you're bringing little kids, grandparents, or a whole family to your session. Less walking and less logistics means more time actually taking photos.
I also love that Bountiful Pond typically doesn't feel overly crowded.
There may be other people enjoying the area, but I don't usually find myself surrounded by other photographers shooting family sessions at every turn.
Because there are so many beautiful areas to choose from, we can usually find a spot where your family can relax and enjoy the session without feeling like we're in the middle of a crowd.
